Pet Portrait: Lucille the Black Lab

Lucille-11x14-300 copy.jpg

The first pet portrait I ever did was of my mom’s black lab mix, Dayton, and oh boy has my style changed a lot since then. Let’s just say I’ve become much more of a stickler for obsessively keeping to the details, for better and worse. Regardless of the varying degrees of skill with my pencils, every portrait of the breed I’ve drawn since that first drawing will always have a special place in my heart. Hopefully the next one will keep the wicker to a minimum, though.

Time Spent: 84 hours and 14 minutes. I can blame some of this on the wicker, but there isn’t THAT much wicker…

Up Next: There’s a good chance I’m going to be drawing a handful of golden retrievers for someone soon, so time to stock up on the appropriate pencils!

Until next time! Lauren H.
