K9 Unit Portrait: MPD K9 Ryker & Officer Michael Kamerer
A handful of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to be asked to be a part of the retirement of a K9 police officer from the Missoula Police Department, and now I can finally show you the portrait I did! Drum roll please! Yes, I know that the portrait was above and that you've already seen it so there's no need for this reveal drumming, but I demand a drum roll! Here it is: Ryker and his partner in crime (stopping), Mike!
Look at Ryker go! (The photo right below, along with those I used as reference photos for the drawing, were taken by a fellow officer, Sergeant J.C. Denton. He took some great shots!)
Paper Used: Strathmore Premium Recycled Drawing Paper (400 Series) cut to 11×14″
Prismacolor Colored Pencils Used:
Time Spent: 41 hours and 31 minutes. I blame the camo and details of Mike's uniform for a lot of that time, but it still seems a little high. Gotta get faster!
Up Next: I have one more St. Louis Cardinal to draw, Jason Heyward, and then I am out of reference photos until I can take more. Until then it is back to pet portraits! Gotta build that portfolio.
Until next time! Lauren H.
