Pet Portrait: Chevy Chevelle the Boston Terrier
A couple months ago during one of my random trips to the AKC Museum of the Dog I happened upon a hoard of Boston Terriers running around like madmen in one of the larger rooms free of any artwork. Turns out, like many other groups and breeds, Boston Terriers of St. Louis Mo often has meetups there, and upon talking with one of the group's leaders the idea arose to do a photo contest that would end in a portrait by yours truly.
Long story short, after whittling down the numerous photo submissions and then letting the group vote on those, I finally have a Boston Terrier in my pet portrait portfolio! One down, a billion more breeds to go!
Time Spent: 19 hours and 12 minutes
Paper Used: 400 Series Flannel White Strathmore Artist Paper cut to 8×10″
Prismacolor Colored Pencils Used:
Up Next: I actually have two commissions lined up! First up I have a sandy-nosed Great Dane connected to a local Great Dane rescue, and following that I have another Boston Terrier who was actually the runner up in the photo contest Chevy won. Can't wait for you all to see his giant smile! After that I have some reference photos for different breeds, including a Beagle, a Dalmation, and a Finnish Lapphund to keep me busy between commissions.
Until next time! Lauren H.
