Pet Portrait: Duke
There's something about bulldogs that make me think of pudgy regality, like King Henry VIII. However, the behavior that includes sticking his tongue out has lowered this guy to the title of Duke.
Challenge: For this drawing I was given two images of Duke, one of the pose for the portrait, the other to help show the coloration of his fur a little bit more accurately. This second photo definitely helped, but I still had to make up the majority of the white side of Duke's face because it was completely washed out in the image. Here's hoping I got all of those skin folds right!
Paper Used: Strathmore Premium Recycled Drawing Paper (400 Series) cut to 8×10″.

Time Spent: 13 hours 46 minutes
Up Next: I'm taking a break from the pet portraits to do another portrait of a child, this time a little girl. Then it is back to at least two more dogs before Christmas.
Until next time! Lauren H.
